Choose A Name
Based on your niche, choose a name that is easy to remember and spell. Make sure that the length of the domain is between 6-18 characters.
Eg.) indianbudgetbeauty.com is a makeup and beauty blog that features budget-friendly makeup and skincare.
Eg. 2) sheforhelp.com is a blog that will help bloggers or new bloggers, hence the name She For Help, because I’m a girl that will be your helping bestie.
Buy Your Domain Name
First of all, check if your domain name is available. I’ve used NameCheap as a domain name provider because it was cheap. I bought my domain sheforhelp.com for $8.88 per year plan.
Why I used Namecheap to buy my Domain?
- Their domain price is cheaper than GoDaddy.
- They offer free privacy protection
- Their renewal rate is $12.99 which was mentioned at their site.
You can also opt for GoDaddy but they don’t provide free privacy protection which is a bummer.
Find a Reliable & Affordable Host
There are a number of hosting services available, but I chose Namecheap again for hosting because I wanted an easy process, and it’s cheaper than other hosting services. I wanted my hosting service and domain to remain in a single place.
NameCheap offers their Stellar plan (Beginner plan) at a 50% off offer for
- $1.44 per month
- 20 GB SSD
- 3 Websites can be hosted
- Free SSL certificate for the first year
- .website domain name
Their renewal rate is $33.88 and their SSL Certificate renews at $8.88 (50% off at 2nd year)
I’ve used Bluehost at indianbudgetbeauty.com because I had to migrate my blog from Blogger to WordPress (Read my blogger to WordPress migration journey) Bluehost’s basic plan starts at $2.75 per month.
Choose a Blogging Platform
There are tones of blogging platforms available but I’d highly recommend that you choose WordPress as you will find loads of plugins and themes. I found their inter-phase is very smooth.
Choose A Free Theme that Goes with Your Site
WordPress comes with thousands of free themes that you can easily install in your blog. You can select any theme and simply install it. I use the theme Crimson Rose which is a free theme. This theme is perfect for female bloggers and very user friendly as well.
I’ve use a paid theme on my other blog.
